Hypnotherapy
Explained

The Science of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the use of therapeutic techniques and treatments that utilize hypnosis to communicate with the subconscious mind.  Hypnosis is when the brain is under a state of relaxation and increased receptivity to suggestion, which helps facilitate communication between the subconscious and conscious mind.

When you are experiencing hypnosis, you are fully aware of what is happening and fully alert.  You are relaxed, receptive, and responsive to suggestion and motivation while being under a state of hyper-suggestibility.  All of this is possible when you have a true emotional desire, reason, and motivation to seek change in a specific behavior.  While experiencing hypnosis, you will never do anything you would not normally do or say something you would not normally say – it is safe, effective and works best when your desire to modify your behavior is fully committed to the process.  Hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool that can change how you control your perception of yourself.

90% of people can be hypnotized, and hypnosis has a 93% success rate within ~6 sessions.

Your subconscious mind has one major job: to protect you. Any time you reach for a vice, when you engage in a self-soothing behavior that may actually be harmful, such as smoking, if you experience a lack of motivation, etc., it is your subconscious mind engaging in the relaxation response due to an outside stressor.  Your subconscious mind thinks that it is moving you away from “danger,” and if you are reading this, you are probably already aware that you may have a certain relaxation response that has become the danger – or at the very least, an issue preventing you from actually living the life you deserve.

In many cases, your inner monologue is not even yourself.  Who is it?  We are an amalgamation of events, circumstances, beliefs, emotions, and people that we have experienced since the moment we came into existence – maybe even earlier than that.  We are built, molded & shaped by our core circle from day one, whether it be parents/caretakers, school, friends, family, spiritual beliefs imparted on us… the good and the bad. Healthy relationships, trauma, and simply observing the world around us – all of this becomes the foundation of our core belief system, and we behave & respond accordingly.  Unfortunately, sometimes our subconscious mind gets it wrong, and the way it chooses to protect us becomes harmful.

So how does hypnosis actually work to change this?

Hypnosis is actually a very natural state of deep relaxation where we work together to reprogram the specific subconscious response to your issue.  We bypass the conscious mind so we can communicate with the subconscious mind, and reframe the way it protects you by teaching it to respond more positively – by doing this we radically transform your limiting beliefs, negative emotions, and relaxation response.  We will deliver powerful, positive, and empowering beliefs and images, showing your subconscious mind that familiarity is no longer the answer.

Much unlike psychotherapy, hypnosis gets straight to the point – when we bypass the conscious mind, we get to the root of the problem.  We deconstruct your limiting beliefs and rebuild your relaxation response so that you can experience a true shift in your life.  These reframed beliefs are built to be long-term, and although these behaviors can take time to change, my job as a Clinical Hypnotherapist is to make sure you are learning and conditioning your mind during our sessions – all you need to do is fully commit to the process.
