Teens & Adolescents
A supportive and grounded therapeutic space for teens navigating stress, identity, emotions, and life transitions.
Adolescence is a time of rapid change, emotional development, and increasing pressure. Teens today face academic expectations, social stress, identity exploration, and the difficulty of balancing autonomy with support. These challenges can become overwhelming when there is not enough space to process what they feel.
Many teens struggle silently with anxiety, mood changes, self-esteem concerns, or confusion about who they are becoming. These experiences can affect sleep, motivation, relationships, and school performance. Some teens feel misunderstood or worry they will be judged if they open up.
Therapy provides a calm and confidential space where teens can feel seen and supported without pressure. They are free to express themselves at their own pace and in their own way.
Understanding Teen Mental Health
My work with teens is relational, grounded, and focused on emotional safety. Teens need a therapist who respects them, listens without assuming, and understands the unique developmental stage they are in. Building trust is the foundation of everything we do.
I use a combination of talk therapy, EMDR, and mind-body tools to support teens in developing emotional regulation and resilience. Sessions may involve identifying patterns, exploring stressors, or working through experiences that feel heavy or confusing. We move at a pace that honors the teen’s comfort and readiness.
Parents are included only in ways that support the teen’s goals. The therapy relationship remains centered on the teen’s voice, autonomy, and emotional needs.
My Approach to Working With Teens
Teens come to therapy for many different reasons. Some of the most common include:
Anxiety and panic
School stress or academic pressure
Emotional overwhelm
Low self-esteem
Identity exploration
Friendship or relationship concerns
Family conflict
Trauma recovery
Social anxiety
Difficulty regulating emotions
Isolation or withdrawal
Grief or loss
Struggles with boundaries or communication
There is no issue too small or too big for therapy. If a teen is struggling, they deserve support.
Common Reasons Teens Seek Support
How EMDR and Integrative Therapy Help
EMDR is especially effective for teens who carry unresolved stress or difficult experiences. It helps the brain process memories and emotions so they no longer feel overwhelming or intrusive. Teens often respond well to EMDR because it is structured, clear, and reduces the pressure to talk about everything in detail.
EMDR supports emotional regulation, confidence, and a stronger internal sense of stability. It can help teens move forward from experiences that shaped them in ways they no longer want to carry.
The goal is to help teens feel more grounded, capable, and connected to themselves.
What Therapy Can Help Teens Achieve
Therapy helps teens develop lifelong emotional skills and a stronger sense of self. Over time, many teens describe feeling more confident, more steady, and more in control of their reactions.
They learn how to understand their emotions, communicate their needs, and navigate stress with greater clarity. These tools support healthier relationships, improved focus, and a more grounded daily experience.
Teens begin to trust themselves. And that trust becomes the foundation for growth.
